Join us for the September First Friday ArtWalk at 45º featuring potter Steve Becker and painter Patrick Kochanasz.

Steve Becker - My pottery begins with touch: soft clay on the wheel, shaped by hand, firmed for carving, then transformed by glaze and fire. In this work I explore surface as landscape—white crawl glaze over black slip, layered blues, carved marks, and sodium silicate crackle that suggest bark, stone, scales, mountains, and weathered ground. I am drawn to the small textures in nature that are easy to overlook, and to the place where careful making meets accident. . These mugs, bowls, vases, and jars aren't made to sit still. They're made to be lived with—picked up, turned in the hand, and discovered a little more each time.
