Lorraine’s colorful landscapes of aspens, mountains, and streams pay tribute to Colorado’s natural beauty. She loves animals and captures them with bold, bright colors full of expression. Abstractions allow her to explore the medium with freedom, experimenting with composition, color harmonies, and textures. Lorraine’s paintings are direct, gestural, and layered, developing intuitively with each brushstroke.
Born and raised in New York City in an artistic family, Lorraine’s early passion for art was influenced by her brother, sculptor Dennis Leri. She earned art degrees from Pratt Institute and Brooklyn College. Her work has been exhibited at East Coast galleries and museums, including the Brooklyn Museum and Snug Harbor.
In 1993, Lorraine left behind the gray skies and muted colors of urban life and fully embraced the strong light and bold colors of Colorado. Her animal paintings evolved with color and whimsy, and the same vibrancy began to flow into her aspen and mountain scenes. Lorraine’s abstract training from Pratt continues to play a significant role in shaping her work.
