Lori Hannan’s art has always been inspired by the natural world. After beginning her journey as a painter, Lori discovered ceramics during a required clay class in college. This newfound love led her to earn a BFA in ceramics with a minor in weaving from The University of Texas at Austin. She later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue her art and worked at a custom frame shop before moving to Germany, where she taught pottery and photography to U.S. soldiers and their families. Her travels through Europe and an opportunity to teach at an International Youth Camp in Norway sparked her passion for teaching high school art.
In 1999, Lori and her family relocated to Colorado, where Red Cloud Pottery was born amidst the Wet Mountains. Her work continues to evolve, reflecting her deep connection tothe earth, sky, and surrounding wildlife. Known for her bowls, Lori’s creations capture the colors and textures of nature. Grateful for the gifts in her life, Lori strives to channel that energy into every piece.
