Robin Scappaticci (b. New York 1957) Part-time potter.
I was born and raised in the Mid-Hudson Valley in New York State. I fell in love with clay after taking my first ceramics class in high school and studied Ceramics at the State University of New York in Potsdam, NY. After earning my degree, I worked for a few years as a production potter in Massachusetts.
After many years away I returned to the joy of working with clay through a class offered by my local high school.
I love working with lace as a texture in clay–the idea of imprinting something as delicate, and in some cases as old, as lace into clay gives such an interesting texture to something so permanent as fired clay.
