Tony Guido grew up in the Midwest.  As a child he has always been in awe of nature, it’s splendor and beauty.

While attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Tony took a ceramics class, and was immediately hooked.  He thought it so exciting to make dishes and functional pieces which people can use in their everyday lives.

His love for clay has grown over the years and Tony enjoys the freedom clay gives to be functional, as well as sculptural, and finds the possibilities for creativity to be limitless.

Tony graduated college in 1979 with a B.A. in Art Education.  He taught art for two years. Tony also had the opportunity to own and operate a floral shop in York, NE , and as a result he began incorporating natural materials into his ceramics.

Tony became involved with two art cooperative galleries in Nebraska.  This gave him the opportunity to present his ceramics at many shows, in Nebraska and surrounding states.

His early work was comprised of non-functional ceramics, incorporating dried materials, branches and pods, stained with acrylics.

When Tony moved to Colorado in 2002, he felt at home with Colorado’s majestic outdoor playground.  In his studio, Tony has been inspired to create functional ceramics, accenting Colorado’s motif of aspens, pinecones and mountain views.
