“When I started working on this piece, I knew what landscape image I wanted to work with, but I wasn’t sure what story I wanted to tell about it.  Then, I came across this amazing 18 x 24 newspaper ad for Thanksgiving with this couple staring at each other over a wish bone.  I knew I had to use it and I knew why.  It was Tim and I.  It was when we made our decision to come out to Colorado to relocate our family.  This piece encompasses the story of our journey together and how it led us to the mountains.  Our hopes were to create a home where our children could explore the outdoors freely and find their joy in God’s creation.   The journey wasn’t easy by any means, but I’m so glad we followed our dream. “

“Following Our Dream” — I’ve painted this image several times, but this is the first time I’ve used it to tell a story about how Tim and I followed our hearts out to Colorado.  The inspiration for this piece was the couple pulling the wishbone apart for a thanksgiving advertisement from a 1920 Colorado Springs Gazette paper.  I saw my husband and I in that couple and how we made a commitment together to move our family out to an unknown area with no assurances.  We dreamed together of building a home for our family that would be grounded in faith and the outdoors and a place where we could thrive and be our best selves.  And here we are, 8 years later, building our home and family in Colorado and following our dream together, one step at a time.
