Sheary Clough Suiter
A 35-year resident of Alaska, Sheary has now been a working artist for over twenty years. A recent Colorado Springs transplant, Sheary has received numerous awards recognizing her expertise in Encaustic, including a Pikes Peak Arts Council MicroGrant, a COPPeR solo exhibition with the City of Colorado Springs, an Avante Credit Union “Spirit of the Arts” commission award, a Permanent Collection Purchase by the Anchorage Museum of Art, a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Project Award, and an Alaska State Council on the Arts Career Opportunity Grant, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently Ombudsperson for the non-profit arts organization International Encaustic Artists , Sheary is founder and past president of AKIEA (Alaska Chapter IEA), subsequently serving the organization on a national level as IEA Chief Officer of Opportunities.
Sheary teaches workshops on the art of painting with encaustic at Bemis School of Art and from her Old
Colorado City Art Studio. In addition to privately commissioned work and national juried exhibitions, Sheary’s art is gallery represented in Old Colorado City by 45 Degree, in Anchorage, Alaska by Stephan Fine Arts Gallery, in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada by Something Else, and in Portland, Oregon by Attic Gallery.
